On 11 April 2026, the Public Union for Seismological Awareness organized a seminar for NGOs on the topic “Proper Behavior During Earthquakes” at the Azerbaijan National NGO Forum.
Afaq Samadzade, Chairperson of the Public Union, lecturer at the Department of Seismology and Physics of the Earth’s Interior at Baku State University, and a PhD candidate in Earth Sciences, noted that awareness of proper behavior during earthquakes helps reduce risks, save lives, and contributes to overall societal safety.
Ayten Babazade, a specialist from the Engineering Geology and Seismic Microzonation Department of the Republican Seismological Service Center under the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, delivered a presentation on the nature of earthquakes, their causes, and essential safety measures during such natural events.
It should be noted that the Public Union for Seismological Awareness is a winner of the 2026 grant competition of the Agency on State Support to NGOs of the Republic of Azerbaijan with the project “Proper Behavior During Earthquakes.”
